As an authorised provider for Cambridge University and others, SIDOL offers a range of academic courses to hundreds of students each year. Each course follows the official curriculum and is taught by highly qualified and experienced facilitators.

Adult Literacy Courses

SIDOL offers literacy course giving you a second chance to acquire the basic reading, writing and numeracy skills for further education. Different levels of literacy courses are offered. Aldec Seychelles

This programme comprises literacy courses in the three national languages; Kreol; English and French and basic numeracy. Courses are offered at three progressive levels’

Level 1 –Basic, one year duration, maximum

Level 2 – Intermediate, one year duration, maximum

Level 3 – Advanced, two years duration, maximum

(N.B these levels do not correspond to the NQF levels of qualifications)

Adult literacy and basic education courses target people who may have left school early or have gone through school without fully acquiring literacy and numeracy skill.

Cambridge courses

This programme includes Cambridge International Examination’s IGCSE, ‘O’ Level and ‘A’ Level courses in a range of subjects, as offered in state secondary schools and A Level Studies, depending on demand.

These courses target people who wish to upgrade their secondary school education so that they may gain opportunities for further and higher education and training. On successful completion of the courses students received the Cambridge International Examinations Certificate for IGCSE, Ordinary or Advanced Levels accordingly.

Courses are advertised through the public broadcast and print media. Publicity is also done during the Literacy week in September.

Students who are currently in S5 may apply to join the IGCSE core and / or extended courses, and O level courses. Those with the required number of passes at IGCSE or O Levels may apply for A Level.

Interested candidates may collect application forms from SIDOL’s Administration during working hours. Completed forms should be returned to SIDOL’S admissions office at least one week prior to the start of the course and payment should be settled prior to starting the course class.

Skills development course

Most of the skills development courses are modular in structure and they are delivered through face to face sessions twice a week or on Saturday for 3 hours. They can also be offered in block sessions during working hours.

The short courses target people who wish to acquire new skills or further develop their skills in different areas.
